Plantronics Expands Plantronics-as-a-Service with Manager Pro v3.0

31 Jul 2014

Plantronics Manager Pro has been updated to version 3.0, providing greater management of Plantronics communications devices. This cloud service can be used to deploy and manage these endpoint devices, allowing IT professionals to provide a consistent user experience across any number of devices, while making it less complex for end-users.

The updated Manager Pro is the second offering from the Plantronics-as-a-Service family, and is designed for IT managers who are aiming to deploy unified communications quickly, as well as improve general acceptance of UC. It can also help IT managers quickly diagnose and resolve any UC deployment issues their clients may have.

Plantronics Manager Pro v3.0 is a part of the Plantronics Spokes portfolio, which will be expanding along with the update. This includes the introduction of Plantronics Hub, and the Plantronics Hub Software Development Kit (SDK).

The Plantronics Hub is available for Mac or Windows, and is a software application that lets users configure and manage their Plantronics communications devices. By using it in combination with Plantronics Manager Pro, IT managers can manage UC deployment across the organization, push firmware updates, and determine how much control end-users have over the devices.

The Plantronics Hub SDK, which is also available for Mac or Windows, is a new kit through which developers can automate routine processes and make predictive, intelligent communications interactions by leveraging the intelligence of sensors in Plantronics headsets.

According to Blair Pleasant, co-founder of UCStrategies, "Plantronics has been working hard to make its headsets and its communication devices a more critical part of a UC deployment. While from the outside it may seem like a stretch, this actually makes a lot of sense. The intelligent sensors and other capabilities of the devices, along with the Plantronics Hub SDK, make it possible for these headsets and devices to be part of the customers' business processes and applications, making these business processes more communication enabled and valuable."
