Sonus Releases WebRTC Services Solution 1.1

5 Jan 2016

Sonus has announced the release of WebRTC Services Solution 1.1, providing new WebRTC capabilities to enterprises and service providers. This new release is designed to run in more environments and on more devices, as well as provide simplified integration and improved security and mobility features.

Release 1.1 of the WebRTC Services Solution enables it to run in public Cloud environments from Amazon and Google. Additionally, its iOS, Android, and .net SDK library support has received new enhancements, allowing it to work on around 97 percent of the mobile devices on the market.

Additionally, the new release offers REST API for messaging services. This is designed to improve flexibility when integrating messaging platforms into WebRTC applications, including automated, external, and legacy platforms.

In order to improve security, WebRTC Services Solution Release 1.1 now has an authentication framework that implements a social media, directory services, proprietary, or non-standard authentication model. This allows secure and seamless transfer of information without jeopardizing security.

Additionally, the new version includes heightened session mobility. Mobile end-users can now simultaneously engage in WebRTC sessions through multiple devices, including laptops, smartphones, and tablets.

"Any type of media server these days, be it an SBC, a gateway, an MCU or other type of device, needs take into consideration how WebRTC changes the game," states Tsahi Levent-Levi, UC Expert for UCStrategies. "For such products, there are two main challenges: 1. Migration towards cloud deployments, almost exclusively; 2. The need to supply the client side as well."

Tashi explains, "Sonus has done right with the focus in its new release by adding public cloud environments to its official release and beefing up its client side SDKs, making them work on more iOS and Android devices. It fits well with the needs of the market."
