Wanted: Mitel VP of Sales NA

21 Feb 2013

Mitel recently confirmed its third quarter 2013 results won't pack any big surprises. Oh, and that its VP of Sales for North America is leaving the company.

Phil Keenan joined Mitel in September 2010 as the VP of Sales NA reporting to Paul Butcher. Soon after, in January 2011, Rich McBee was named Mitel CEO. McBee and Keenan implemented major changes within the sales and channel organizations, significantly reducing direct sales efforts in North America. Prior to Mitel, Keenan spent 2.5 years at Nortel, but earned most of his cred from a five-year run at Polycom.

Mitel has not formally announced its third quarter results, but confirmed revenue (around $142M) and non-GAAP operating expenses around 42-43% of revenue. Subsequently, Mitel announced its adjusted EBITDA is expected to be in the range of $21M - $22.5M. Mitel disclosed the information due to discussions involving the refinancing of senior secured credit lines.

Mitel is one of the few UC vendors to offer solutions as an appliance, software-only, virtualized, and as a public cloud service. The firm also targets Service Providers with a version optimized as a business platform. All versions are based on the same (MCD) software base.

Mitel puts considerable focus on cloud solutions (public, private, and hybrid). Also, Mitel offers an IaaS solution through its Network Solutions division to assist customers with private cloud implementations. Mitel Network Solutions also offers carrier services such as SIP, MPLS, and wireless networking services in the U.S.

CEO Rich McBee will act as head of NA sales during the search for Keenan's replacement.
