Four Trust Issues You Must Address Before You Adopt BYOD

Today's workers use a range of devices in their daily routine, yet corporations haven't adopted the level of transparency needed to address BYOD trust issues. A TEKSystems survey found that only 35 percent of companies communicated effectively and regularly updated their device policy, with 65 percent of companies either banning personal device use at work or not employing a policy to moderate employer and employee concerns. UCI Forum and Open Networking Foundation Announce Collaborative Relationship

The Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCI Forum), announced today that it has signed an agreement with the Open Networking Foundation (ONF), to accelerate the adoption of open Software-Defined Networking (SDN) in UC. The agreement establishes a collaborative relationship in the area of SDN integration in unified communications environments. This is an important step in coordinating how UC platforms will interface with SDN-based network services ensuring a better UC user experience.

Industry's Fastest 802.11ac Access Point from Meru

A wireless access point supporting the next-generation 802.11ac (5G) wireless standard, was unveiled by Sunnyvale, California-based Meru Networks last week, and is the company's first access point.

The Meru AP832 access point is the most recent in a series of new wireless equipment brought in this year to support 802.11ac; Aruba Networks, Motorola Solutions and Cisco have also released next-generation access points and routers.

Cisco Spends $1.2 billion in Meraki Takeover

In November 2012, Cisco Systems bought Meraki, a cloud controlled WiFi, security and routing enterprise at a cost of $1.2 billion. Though the purchase has been criticized by some industry experts for being pricey, many others deem is necessary if Cisco intends to take a lead in wireless networking within the small-to-midsize company market. The takeover also boosts Cisco's strength against the field's new contender - Aruba Networks.
