Blue Jeans

Read a review of Logitech GROUP, which Wainhouse Research calls a “shining star” and a “no-brainer” for video conferencing solutions.

Video for Smaller Rooms - Tely Labs HD Pro

I recently tested the Tely Labs HD Pro small room video system. For those of you who are not aware, Tely Labs is a newer entrant into the enterprise video market and is focused on a camera system that enables small conference rooms. The Tely Labs HD Pro is a relatively small complete video solution that plugs into a monitor/TV using HDMI. It is designed to deliver HD up to 720P (1280x720) for SIP and Skype and 704x586 for H.263. It has a relatively small camera that does not pan or tile, and includes a cover for privacy.

Creative Destruction: Could RIM's Loss be Apple's Gain for UC?

This premise might seem like a bit of a stretch for our readers here at UCStrategies, but just bear with me for five minutes. We're all seeing constant change in this space, and when it comes to disruption, these days, I don't see how you can rule anything out. Just when you thought the UC world was starting to make sense, something entirely new comes in from left field.

Blue Jeans Raises $50 Million

Blue Jeans Network announced that it secured an additional $50 million in funding. The round was led by Battery Ventures, with participation from previous investors including Accel Partners, New Enterprise Associates and Norwest Ventures Partners. The round brings its total capital raised to nearly $100 million.

Congratulations to Blue Jeans, it's impressive what they have accomplished.

What does this mean?

Here's my interpretation of the news.

Zoom - Welcome to the New World of Video

One of the major emerging areas in communications in 2013 is VCaaS - Video Conferencing as a Service. There are a number of new companies in this space, including Vidtel and Blue Jeans. And there are a number of emerging free WebRTC video conferencing players like Bistri, Tawk, and FACEmeeting. This week, Zoom, another relatively new player, announced their current operating numbers, with over two million meeting attendees to date and 4,000 meetings per day in June, they seem to be growing rapidly.

First Video Infrastructure Now Endpoints Drop

Video communications has been spreading from the boardroom through conference rooms to the desktop over the past several years. But why stop there? 2013 is the year of video everywhere, just take a look here at in the Enterprise Connect exhibit hall. For the first time Vidtel and Blue Jeans have (adjacent) booths on the show floor. These companies have shown that video network infrastructure can be more economically delivered via the cloud (and software) and are replacing traditional hardware-based infrastructure.
