UCI Forum and Open Networking Foundation Announce Collaborative Relationship

The Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCI Forum), announced today that it has signed an agreement with the Open Networking Foundation (ONF), to accelerate the adoption of open Software-Defined Networking (SDN) in UC. The agreement establishes a collaborative relationship in the area of SDN integration in unified communications environments. This is an important step in coordinating how UC platforms will interface with SDN-based network services ensuring a better UC user experience.

Workday Comments on HP-Amazon Controversy

Workday and Hewlett-Packard are involved in a deal that seems as though it will tread on Amazon cloud territory.

Bill Veghte, the HP Chief Operating Officer, noted that the company had moved Workday over from Amazon's public cloud to HP's.

The Chairman at Workday, Aneel Bhusri, noted that it would not be abandoning Amazon Web Services for HP, as might have been implied by Veghte.

Bhusri said: "We're happy customers of both," speaking at the GigaOM Structure 2013 conference last week in San Francisco, California.

Video Predictions for 2013

As the prediction season winds down, there's another prognosticator who deserves attention: Elliot Gold of Telespan. This is the 18th consecutive year that Mr. Gold has cast conferencing predictions, and according to his own analysis, his accuracy rate is 75 percent (127 correct out of 170).

HP Provides High-Def Video Conferencing Products

HP has announced that new visual collaboration products have been made available. They can work for desktop and conference rooms, providing a high-definition video experience anywhere and at any time.

The HP Visual Collaboration offerings are software-based, and are designed to reduce the need for travel, thus saving expenses and reducing carbon emissions that come from transportation. Expanding upon HP Halo high-end studios, the solutions let customers run video conferencing over a managed network or their own for flexible collaboration.
