ADTRAN Launches Four New IP Phones

25 Mar 2013

ADTRAN, Inc. announces the addition of four new IP phones to its technology portfolio. The IP phone models are all powered by Polycom and rely on ADTRAN's NetVanta UC call controls. Resellers can deploy the business phones either on hosted or on-premises communications networks. Pricing details are not yet announced.

The IP phones - the VVX 300, VVX 310, VVX 400, and the VVX 410 - are touted by ADTRAN to have the ability to interact with third-party web applications. They can also be used for a variety of scenarios in business organizations, from basic office and remote worker use to mid-range functions complete with call-handling features for call center agents.

ADTRAN claims that the flexibility brought in by its NetVanta UC call control allows enterprises that use the new line of IP phones to upgrade to advanced VoIP technologies without changing how they communicate within their organization. This lets ADTRAN's business customers maintain a broader set of endpoints, keep single vendor support, and retain the same ease of installation.

The four new IP phones from ADTRAN feature programmable line keys, a web-based configuration tool, and zero-touch provisioning. They can also be deployed on "existing networks with open SIP-based call control platforms," thus minimizing the phones' overall cost of ownership.

Moreover, plug-in expansion modules - Polycom VVX Color Expansion Module and Polycom VVX Expansion Module - introduce more programmable line keys for managing higher volumes of calls and contacts. All four new business phones can handle up to three expansion modules.

The VVX 300 IP phone is for entry-level use and has six programmable line keys for managing low to moderate call volumes. The VVX 400, on the other hand, is designed for mid-range use. It is equipped with 12 programmable line keys, as well as a wider colored interface screen.

"ADTRAN's unique market position in both UC call control for the premises and IP business gateways for hosted voice services gives us unique insight into our customer's communications needs," said Bob Locklear, director of product management for the Enterprise Networks division of ADTRAN, in a prepared statement. "Combined with flexible deployment options, these new endpoints can reach more customers and add to a complete IP phone portfolio that meets the needs of today's unified communications applications."
