AVST Announces Intent to Purchase SaaS Technology from VMI

20 Jul 2010

Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST) announced that it has signed a Letter of Intent to purchase certain assets from Voice Mobility International, Inc. (VMI), particularly the Voice Mobility UCN250 Software as a Service platform. The exact terms of the transaction, however, were not disclosed.

The UCN250 is a Linux and SIP-based SaaS platform that AVST will integrate into its unified communications solution portfolio, thus accelerating AVST's ability to address the ever-growing communications requirements of customers.

Jim Burton, Co-Founder of UCStrategies stated, "For much of this year, AVST has been adding to its communications portfolio. The recent acquisition of the Active Voice business from NEC and now the LOI to purchase the technology assets of Voice Mobility, certainly rounds out its product delivery scope. AVST now includes premise, hosted and SaaS-based business models, which effectively gives AVST a range of product offerings to meet any sized business' core messaging needs."

According to Art Rosenberg, UCStrategies UC Expert, "Mobile UC is driving business interest in hosted, cloud-based UC services that will open more flexible and efficient interactions between all types of users and business processes. AVST's acquisition of VMI technology will enable the company to migrate its customers to any combination of premise-based, cloud-based, or hybrid UC implementations.

The transaction is subject to certain preceding conditions, but is expected to close by December 31, 2010.
