BT Earns Leader Placement in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for UCaaS

18 Jan 2017

Earlier in September, Gartner Inc. announced the leaders in its Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) Magic Quadrant. Among the leaders worldwide was British Telecommunications plc (BT), which earned its place there after being placed as a Challenger in 2015, and was given the highest position in its quadrant for its ability to execute.

Gartner's report involves evaluations of 16 different companies, comparing them to one another and ranking them in seven criteria for their ability to execute, and eight criteria for their completeness of vision. Vendors in the Leaders Quadrant implement cohesive and integrated UCaaS solutions, meet the market's needs, and have proven that they can service large accounts.

BT provides communications services and solutions to over 180 countries, and is particularly involved in the provision of networked IT services, telecommunications services for its customers to use while at home or on the go, and converged fixed-mobile products and services. By naming BT as a worldwide Leader for UCaaS, Gartner has acknowledged and validated BT's strategy and progress, including its BT One Cloud offering and Cloud of Clouds portfolio strategy.

According to Joseph Williams of UCStrategies and Cloud Economist, BT's placement is well deserved, if not overdue. "Gartner's recognition of BT's excellence in UCaaS by placing them in the Magic Quadrant is just giving the global giant its due," he states, expressing praise for both BT and Gartner's decision.

With 2016 barely over, it will still be some time before the Magic Quadrant Leaders for 2017 are determined. Still, BT can take pride in its placement, as it works to achieve similar results in the days to come. We shall see what 2017 holds for the company and the industry.
