BroadSoft Integrates Rich Communications Services in BroadCloud

BroadSoft integrates Rich Communications Services (RCS) in its BroadCloud Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. Both the new RCS addition and its Rich Communications Suite-enhanced (RCS-e) counterpart are said to provide mobile operators with a platform for managed service delivery for a range of services like voice and video calling, converged messaging, and media sharing.

Although RCS solutions have been reported to face challenges in the past, BroadSoft claimed that the BroadCloud version would improve on the previous releases, thus helping mobile operators who are looking for ways to expand their lineup of services.

The integration of RCS in BroadCloud will enhance the time-to-market and drop the costs associated with deployment. Reduced integration complexity, which is the driving force behind the two preceding advantages, is another benefit of the RCS introduction into BroadCloud.

BroadCloud RCS is said to offer ease of use to its users as well as the flexibility of being usable in both IMS networks and those that do not have IMS. In addition, networks without IMS get an added benefit because BroadCloud RCS has the necessary IMS functions even as the platform allows for users to introduce a much more complete IMS for the whole network, meaning the user is afforded the flexibility to migrate to IMS at any time.

"Market adoption of RCS solutions have [sic] been slowed by high initial and total costs of ownership, and high complexity that delays deployment," said Scott Hoffpauir, chief technology officer (CTO) of BroadSoft. "BroadCloud RCS significantly reduces risks and costs associated with a service provider's RCS deployment, so they can go live quickly with advanced communications services that include integrated multimedia and messaging solutions."

By offering a cloud-based delivery for RCS, BroadSoft then broadens its Telephony Application Server (TAS)/VoLTE platform to give a more inclusive IMS application layer support in global IMS deployments. With BroadSoft's addition of RCS to BroadCloud, the company is said to have positioned itself to cater to the needs of today's mobile operators while anticipating the demands of future ones. The versatility of the BroadCloud RCS line and BroadSoft's overall lineup is appealing to organizations and businesses searching for ways to get one step ahead in communications services.

BroadSoft's communications platform consists of BroadWorks, BroadTouch, and BroadCloud. The company also offers a diverse range of consumer and business communications applications, which include RCS, RCS-e, voice over LTE (VoLTE), unified communications (UC), conferencing, and collaboration.
