Dialogic Acquires APEX Communications

Dialogic has announced a new acquisition, and with it new application offerings. With the purchase of APEX Communications, Inc., Dialogic can now bring real-time communications applications to its service provider customers, allowing these providers to increase their profitability while enhancing customer satisfaction.

APEX Communications is a provider of Service Delivery Platforms (SDPs) and multi-service Telecom Application Servers. The company has been a media processing partner of Dialogic for some time, so the acquisition is a natural step for Dialogic, allowing it to extend its offerings into the real-time communications for service providers space.

Following the acquisition, Dialogic will begin delivering packaged or customizable real-time communication applications. This includes a range of customizable applications that can be designed to meet the various needs of operators worldwide, including WebRTC-based solutions, IMS/VoLTE-based solutions, and IoT communication applications.

According to UCStrategies UC Expert Phil Edholm, an advocate of WebRTC, "WebRTC is gaining significant traction as the technology to use to transform the traditional telecom solution to a web-based paradigm that enables any Internet-connected end point to be seamlessly integrated into a rich communications and collaboration solution. Dialogic clearly sees how the media and application capabilities of Apex, combined with Dialogic's traditional telecom and web elements, enables the combination to address some of the challenges in the new environment both for WebRTC, as well as more traditional solutions like IMS and IoT."

Following the acquisition, former APEX Communications CEO, Ben Levy, has become Vice President of Applications at Dialogic. The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
