HP Lync-Enabled IP Phones to be Distributed Via snom

17 Jun 2013

HP's Lync-enabled IP phone models, the HP 4110 and HP 4120, will be added by snom technology AG to its reseller community, and will aid Unified Communications deployments. snom is a long-time HP channel partner, and is expecting to broaden the reach of its IP phone portfolio via this opportunity. These phone models will be available closer to the end of this month.

Microsoft Lync software comes pre-installed on both the HP 4110 and HP 4120 IP phones. Although these phones only operate on a Lync environment, which is unlike snom's other Lync-enabled phones, users will also be able to access rich calendar and contact information via various other Microsoft applications.

Enterprise capabilities such as PC/phone integration, click-to-call and Lync server integrated manageability are made possible through partnering with HP. Lync-qualified devices do not at present make these features available, but they will be accessible via snom UC edition phones later this year.

snom's announcement also mentioned that the company will be responsible for its sales and marketing, serving the phones to its reseller base. HP will be in charge of offering Tier 1 level support.

The COO of snom technology AG in Berlin, Michael Knieling, said: "As the market for Microsoft Lync expands, businesses require the flexibility to deploy solutions that fit their specific needs, whether that's Lync-optimized devices or Lync-qualified devices. We can offer more choices to our customers, whatever their needs may be." (CY) Link. Link.
