LG-Ericsson USA Launches

18 Aug 2010

LG-Ericsson USA has officially launched its brand into the North American market. With this new release, the company intends to offer a wide portfolio of end-to-end data and voice networking solutions for businesses of all sizes.

LG-Ericsson USA, formerly known as Edgecore Networks, Inc., is a joint venture between LG-Ericsson Co., Ltd., a provider of telecommunication solutions based in Korea, and Accton Techology Corporation, a provider of voice and data networking solutions from Taiwan. By combining their resources and research & development talent, LC-Ericsson aims to develop and deliver high-performance data and voice communications to small-to-medium businesses and enterprise businesses in North America.

However, not all analysts believe this announcement will have much of an impact on the SMB market. "The recent announcement of 'unified' SMB solutions from the new LG-Ericsson USA venture was underwhelming to me if not risk-prone," says UCStrategies UC Expert Jay Brandstadter. "UC is still establishing legs in the SMB space and there are interesting available solutions from hosted/cloud providers as well as premises-based alternatives from the likes of established players like Avaya, Cisco and Mitel. As for combining a small IP-PBX with a data LAN, this is 2010 not 1999. But Hyundai started strange too and look at them now."

The planned solutions include a comprehensive suite of IP PBX systems, as well as a full component of business-class digital, IP, WiFi, SIP, soft phones, and multimedia terminals, on top of the easy management provided by managed and unmanaged switches with a Network Management Services and Unified Device Manager.
