Nefsis Provides Free Version of HQ Online Video Conferencing Service

27 Sep 2010

Nefsis, an innovator in online video conferencing, has introduced a new, free online service for secure and easy web meetings: Nefsis Basic. With this, independent contractors, entrepreneurs, and other small office owners can have face-to-face meetings for free from their own home or office.

Starting today, Nefsis Basic is available to U.S. and Canadian subscribers. Subscribers can hold live, two-way online video conferences with other parties anywhere in the world, allowing them to clearly see each other and share presentations, documents, and desktops, along with a two-party voice over IP audio.

According to Blair Pleasant, UCStrategies co-founder, "Nefsis identified and addressed an existing problem in the video market - the gap between the ease-of-use of convenient online web conferencing services and high-quality expensive boardroom video installations. With its Nefsis Professional offering providing end-to-end multicore processing, and its new Nefsis Basic providing business-grade video conferencing, web collaboration and two-party VoIP, Nefsis has a compelling offering for different video needs. The Nefsis Basic service provides two-party conferencing, so Nefsis hopes that customers who need multiparty conferencing will upgrade to the Professional version, which offers unlimited multipoint conferencing and other enhanced features that the basic version doesn't offer. While it will be challenging for Nefsis to compete against larger, more well-known web conferencing competitors like Cisco WebEx with more resources for marketing and advertising, Nefsis has a very high-quality product that it hopes will gain market momentum through word of mouth and referrals from its free offering."

The Nefsis Basic service works like any Internet application and is designed for consultants, freelancers, and entrepreneurs who work from a small office or home office business. A custom Internet address is provided to conference hosts, which can then be sent to other parties who can join simply by clicking on the link. The video input is provided by webcam, and users can access documents, desktops, or applications with a few clicks of the mouse.

Thanks to the technology Nefsis has pioneered over recent years, Nefsis Basic can provide high-quality video conferencing via cloud computing and multi-core processing. The sessions on Nefsis Basic feature conference room passwords and SSL/TLS security.
