PanTerra Adds Click-to-Communicate Features to SmartBox

6 Aug 2014

PanTerra Networks has added new UC and mobile functionality to its SmartBox service, providing Unified Communication and Collaboration in real-time. Aimed at the midmarket, the newly-updated version of its cloud file-sharing and storage service, SmartBox-UCC, is a unified solution that offers reliable service at an affordable cloud-based subscription rate, and can now be used across mobile devices. According to Panterra, Smartbox UCC lets you access and use your files, documents, content, and real time communications from a mobile device, with security and multifactor authentication.

"With this combination of communication with document sharing, PanTerra is opening up improved, easy-to-use collaboration options for many roles or usage profiles within all sizes of enterprises - small to large," says Marty Parker, UCStrategies Expert and consultant with UniComm Consulting. "Folders in a PanTerra SmartBox account now become virtual workspaces in which all sharing participants are automatically assembled into a buddy list, and from which a simple click can open a chat or call with document sharing. The tagging and filtering functions can also enable simple collaborative or transactional workflows. It is possible that the business benefits will extend the economic benefits far beyond the TCO value," Parker added.

SmartBox-UCC lets customers streamline management for several cloud services, which are all operated through a single unified platform. This reduces complexity, TCO for IT, and reduces downtime from outages. Now, with the Mobile SmartBox-UCC, this can be done via a smartphone or tablet with audio/video functionality, so workers can make the most of it no matter where they are. It uses Wi-Fi, 3G, or 4G cellular networks

In addition, Mobile SmartBox-UCC includes improved security features. The application for mobile devices uses multi-phase authentication and encrypted communications over all devices to ensure safe access for users. Security is a vital concern for applications on mobile devices, as well as for the employee on the go, but PanTerra promises safe and secure access to all its services and communications content.

In order to prevent draining excessive power from the devices, the application uses push technology to keep battery drain at a minimum. Panterra claims that this also provides for reliable delivery of calls and messages even when the app is in background mode, or even if the device is off.

While store, share, and sync features were previously available as separate offerings, SmartBox-UCC now offers them together, along with unified communications and collaboration features, on a single mobile application. Customers can deploy full management of its cloud services, from anywhere, on any device.

Mobile SmartBox-UCC offers built-in communications and desktop share capability, local sync, the ability to make/receive audio/video calls over Wi-fi or cellular data, real-time presence, business-class IM, visual voice mail, full Outlook/phone contact management, multi-factor authentication, and other capabilities.

The application is available now for Apple and Android devices from their respective app stores. For more information, visit www.panterranetworks.com.
