Plantronics Offers Itself as a Service

16 Jul 2014

Sometimes it can seem as though everything is being offered as a service these days, but Plantronics is taking service offerings to a new level by offering PaaS; that is to say, Plantronics-as-a-Service.

Plantronics-as-a-Service will enable Cloud Service Providers to offer complete communication solutions, while enabling customers to get full packaged communications solutions from a single provider. Business can pay as they go and get the products to meet their end users' needs. It is designed to provide a simple way to access complete Unified Communications solutions, without mixing and matching various vendor offerings like puzzle pieces.

The first new offering, Plantronics Device-as-a-Service, is a program that lets Cloud Service Providers offer a pay-as-you-go communications solution. The program is available in a 12-, 24-, or 36-month subscription, and complements the Cloud Service Provider's subscription business model by adding additional revenue from the bundled hardware that Plantronics offers.

Plantronics-as-a-Service was launched at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, and is available for SMB and mid-market customers in the U.S. More products and services will be made available in the future, in addition to the services being offered in more countries.

According to Blair Pleasant, co-founder of UCStrategies, "Organizations of all sizes are looking towards 'pay as you go' models, and Plantronics is wisely offering a way for these businesses to purchase headsets and communication endpoints in the same manner." She adds, "As more companies move to unified communications solutions and leverage soft clients rather than hard phones, the need for headsets is greatly increased. Being able to get the total UC solution and devices from a single cloud service provider makes it easier for customers to get what they need, while increasing the recurring revenue for the cloud service provider."
