Polycom-Meetrix Social Video Collaboration Solution
Last week, news of a partnership between Polycom, Inc. and Meetrix (cloud enabler and integrator) was announced. The new relationship is set to provide a social video collaboration solution through the cloud. The new offering has been showcased at the IBM Connect 2013 event in Orlando, Florida.
The Chief Executive Officer at Meetrix, Lee Fawcett, stated in a press release that: "[The company is] excited to team with a prestigious partner such as Polycom. We've heard from our customers that enterprise-class UC delivered from the cloud is needed, and our joint solution, whether the video infrastructure is on-premises or delivered from the cloud, offers the best-in-class UC and video solution-set available today."
Polycom's RealPresence Platform and Meetrix's flagship UC for IBM Sametime offering, "Sametime-as-a-service," have now merged. Employees may now be connected securely on several point-to-point multi-party video calls, as a result of this services integration. Connection can be established over a number of different devices such as smartphones, laptops, tablets and conference rooms.
The Vice President of Business Development at Polycom, Steve Pattison, said: "[The company has] offered integration with IBM Sametime for years but as more customers - especially small and midsized companies - explore cloud strategies, we're excited to partner with Meetrix, a real innovator in this space."
For customers already at Meetrix UC in the Cloud for IBM Sametime and Polycom RealPresence, the service is now globally available to them, and does not constitute any extra cost for the additional application. At the TEAM Polycom 2013 event in Vancouver, BC next month, the demonstration of this offering will be made available. (CY) Link
