ShoreTel Releases Latest Mobility Software Version

16 Jul 2013

ShoreTel, Inc. announces the release of Mobility 7, the latest version of the company's mobility software that offers unified communications (UC) capabilities and a new user interface. Mobility 7 is also touted to come with simplified integration for better productivity when using BlackBerry, iOS, and Android devices.

The latest mobility software release works with both hosted UC and on-premise platforms from ShoreTel. It is also equipped with directory query integration and instant messaging for OCS and Lync Instant Messaging and Presence Servers, as well as availability for SIP-supported IP PBXs from Avaya and Cisco.

Mobility 7 features a new "Today" screen that makes joining conference calls easier for mobile employees. The "Today" screen integrates with the Android and iOS calendars. The ShoreTel Mobility Client automatically shows conference calls on the calendar and enables one-click access to web and audio conferences. In addition, a "Join" button automatically dials a particular conference call and enters the participant code for that conference.

A personal dial support allows non-work-related calls to be made with the user's cellular caller ID via the ShoreTel Mobility app. This does away with the need to juggle between different voice apps. A drop-down menu shows the per-call selections. Options for cellular, personal caller ID, and Wi-Fi are available.

Aside from Mobility 7, the company now makes available a piece of hardware called ShoreTel Dock. In early May 2013, it can be remembered that the company unveiled ShoreTel Dock, a device docking station that can transform an iPad or an iPhone into a desk phone complete with a handset, keypad, and a speakerphone. List price for the new accessory is set at $349. The equipment is sold through channel partners.

"Our channel is a buzz of excitement with the customer interest in ShoreTel Mobility and the ShoreTel Dock. With our latest software release, resellers can deliver a fantastic and intuitive experience for end users and IT administrators alike," said David Petts, senior VP of worldwide sales at ShoreTel. "As a result, customers are able to integrate leading smartphones and tablets securely, simply and cost-effectively into existing enterprise communication applications and infrastructure to provide greater flexibility and increased productivity."
