Toshiba Adds Fax Features for Strata

The Telecommunication Systems Division of Toshiba America Information Systems announced Fax Features for Strata Messaging, its low-cost Unified Messaging solution for Small to Medium Businesses. Strata Messaging with Fax Features is compatible with Toshiba's Strata CIX IP business communication systems, and is now available through any authorized Toshiba dealers.

According to Ron Hunsaker, senior product manager for Toshiba, "With Fax Features, Strata Messaging users can eliminate costly and unreliable fax machines and can manage all their fax communications in their mailboxes. In addition, adding fax into the feature set of such a low cost system makes Strata Messaging a smart and easy choice over the competition."

Fax Features allows Strata Messaging users to manage their faxes in a unified messaging format. Its new capabilities include:
- Fax Mail, allowing users to receive faxes in their voice mailbox and view them before rerouting to a physical fax machine
- Fax From Desktop
- Incoming Fax Target, which allows faxes to be rerouted to a secondary mailbox
- Incoming Fax Direct Inward Dialing
- Fax Auto Print
- Fax Log
- Fax-on-Demand, which allows callers to access a library of documents and select one to be faxed to them
- Fax Queue, a web-based report on outbound faxes
- Fax Settings

"Fax has always been a necessary form of immediate document delivery, but was always a source of expense and inconvenience for business users," says UCStrategies UC Expert Art Rosenberg. "This was true mainly because it was tied to printed output and dedicated telephone numbers. With the convergence of fax into UC and UM capabilities, not only are there less costs and greater delivery flexibilities available to both senders and recipients, but it also paves the way for fax as a basic UC "modality" option for the SMB market. That is essentially what Toshiba has brought to the table with its new and simplified Strata Unified Messaging solution Fax Features."

It's easy to add Fax Features to Strata Messaging. Enterprises can simply purchase the fax license and gateway, although some Fax Features also require Unified Messaging licenses.
