Toshiba Adds Two New Premium, Ultra-Thin & Light Notebooks to Portfolio of Business Solutions

IRVINE, Calif.--()--Toshiba’s Client Solutions Division (CSD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced two new additions to the organization’s professional notebook portfolio with the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40. Both thin and light notebooks will be available by the second quarter of the year from Toshiba’s Web site as well as the organization’s resellers.

Thinner Designs Without Compromise

At 15.9mm thin and weighing a mere 2.3 pounds1, the 13.3-inch Portégé X30 is 11-percent thinner and 13-percent lighter than its award-winning predecessor. While the 14-inch Tecra X40 checks in at 16.9mm thin and 2.76 pounds1 and rivals the dimensions of many 13-inch notebooks. These extremely compact form factors position both the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 as the ideal solution for any professional computing environment.

Toshiba designed these premium notebooks to meet the performance demands of the modern workplace through the adoption of 7th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors and Windows 10 Pro. Users have the latest processing technology and most robust operating systems on the market. Users will also find Full HD (1920 x 1080) multi-touch wide viewing angle displays, Intel® 802.11ac Wi-Fi®3, solid state drives and batteries with extended life ratings.

Leading-Edge Security Features

Toshiba equipped both the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 with biometric and facial authentication technologies to deliver an advanced level of security and differentiate the notebooks from the competition. The first component is a new Touchpad with a built-in fingerprint sensor called SecurePad™ with Synaptics® Natural ID fingerprint sensor5. The second element, found on both the notebooks, is the integration of IR cameras to allow for facial authentication via Windows Hello face sign-in. Together, these security elements are personal, secure and a password-free way to quickly log-in to your device.

Another advanced security feature offered is Toshiba’s proprietary BIOS, available in all business laptops and speeds customization while helping to deliver stable PC performance, enhanced system security and reduced risk of unauthorized access.

A Commanding 360° Sound System

Toshiba added a premium audio experience via Harman Kardon® stereo speakers and DTS Sound™ software to these notebooks. Toshiba’s exclusive custom-tuned speakers deliver a robust, crisp and natural audio from every angle.

Modern Ports with Expanded Capabilities

Even with slim profiles, Toshiba was able to outfit the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 with 2 USB Type-C™ ports4, USB 3.0 port, an HDMI, and a microSD Card Slot as well as a headphone/mic combo port. The USB Type-C port features reversible plug orientation and supports Display, Power Delivery and Thunderbolt™ 3 with speeds up to 40Gbps4.

Advanced Docking Options

These two professional grade notebooks are compatible with two advanced docking solutions– the Toshiba WiGig® Dock6 and Toshiba Thunderbolt® 3 Dock7, which will be available later this quarter. These docks are designed to expand the overall productivity of the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 through a single connection.

Proven Reliability

The Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 have been designed, engineered and rigorously tested in dedicated Toshiba facilities to deliver greater peace of mind and proven reliability. To increase everyday protection and scratch resistance, the two notebooks feature a premium magnesium alloy ToughBody chassis, shock-absorbing design and unique honeycomb reinforcement for increased durability. In addition, both notebooks incorporate Toshiba’s new modern Onyx Blue color.

Pricing and Availability

In addition to standard configurations, the Portégé X30 and Tecra X40 will also be available with a wide variety of Build-to-Order (BTO) options to enable organizations to select the right CPU, memory, storage, display and security capabilities.
