Vidtel Partners with VTEL for Multiparty Video Conferencing

Vidtel announced that its MeetMe cloud-based video conferencing service now interoperates with the product offerings of VTEL, a video conferencing manufacturer based in Austin, Texas.

As a result of the partnership between the two companies, customers of VTEL can now use the MeetMe service to carry out business-grade multiparty video conferencing across a range of service providers and equipment vendors, including Cisco, Google, LifeSize, Polycom, and Skype. It is also claimed that the multiparty video conferencing is made possible regardless of endpoint, platform, or service and without the need for exchange services or expensive bridges.

Vidtel's MeetMe service is touted to enable enterprise-grade video conferencing in room-based systems, executive desktop video systems, and mobile devices (using a mix of H.323, SIP, Skype, GoogleTalk, and WebRTC technologies) and between PCs and Macs. The service is also said to offer a competitive pricing structure in meeting the needs of enterprises of any size.

Moreover, MeetMe's cloud-based infrastructure eliminates IT expertise and capital investment beyond the existing systems. Vidtel claims that using the MeetMe video conferencing service is as easy as handling an audio conferencing bridge.

In early December, California-based Vidtel was given the Best Conferencing Award for its WebRTC gateway, which has the native ability to connect a WebRTC-enabled browser to an enterprise-grade video conferencing infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the VTEL systems run on the underlying architecture of Windows 7. And the video conferencing systems can be used to stream videos, play DVDs, display websites, and run any form of enterprise PC software. VTEL has installed video conferencing systems for commercial corporations as well as organizations involved in education, healthcare, and legal industries.

"VTEL has been growing rapidly over the last year due to our ability to provide a turnkey group videoconferencing system for under $5,000," said Richard Ford, CEO at VTEL. "Offering the low cost Vidtel multipoint videoconferencing service along with VTEL IPanels enables our end-users to dramatically reduce the capital expense required to implement an enterprise-wide professional quality videoconferencing solution."

"With Vidtel's MeetMe, VTEL customers will enjoy enormous flexibility in terms of video conferencing with other organizations on SIP, H.323 and web-based standards," said Mariette Johnson Wharton, cofounder and vice president of marketing at Vidtel. "VTEL has a long track history of innovation in video conferencing, so it is not surprising to see VTEL embrace our cloud service." (KOM) Link. Link.
