8x8 Launches Communications Cloud and Acquires Sameroom

8x8, Inc. has announced a new Communications Cloud, combining unified communications, team collaboration interoperability, contact center, and real-time analytics into a single platform. This new solution, the 8x8 Communications Cloud, is an interoperable platform, designed to allow cross-team messaging and collaboration, along with several new integrations with popular enterprise applications, and new open APIs.

The new 8x8 Communications Cloud is designed to let enterprises connect across clouds, connect intelligently in order to share data with lines of business applications, and embed customized communications into their business workflows. This allows companies to make the most of their existing sales, marketing, HR, and collaboration investments, while still supporting new open cloud capabilities that help employees boost their productivity.

In order to support these new capabilities, 8x8 has also introduced several new integrations, which add rich communications intelligence to the applications employees use everyday. For sales and marketing, it offers integrations with Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Oracle Sales Cloud, Hubspot, and ZOHO. For human resources, it has integrations for Bullhorn, Jobscience, and TargetRecruit. Customer service and support integrations include Zendesk, Freshdesk, and ConnectWise.

Additionally, the 8x8 Communications Cloud offers a number of open APIs, so customers and partners can add rich communications data to their current enterprise applications. This includes APIs for direct access to messaging, chat, meetings, and other communication services, analytics and data extraction APIs, and automated provisioning for Active Directory integration. There’s also Script8, the dynamic communications flow and routing engine API from 8x8, which provides reusable widgets for intelligently routing communications data for specific workflows.

The 8x8 Communications Cloud announcement comes at the same time as the company’s acquisition of Sameroom, an interoperability platform that provides cross-team messaging and collaboration. With Sameroom, 8x8’s cloud communication capabilities are strengthened significantly, allowing customers and partners to collaborate across messaging solutions and launch 8x8 communication services from within their apps.

Sameroom allows users to connect through their “home” collaboration service, and connect to other “rooms” regardless of platforms. The messages sent to Sameroom are relayed in real time, thus enabling cross-platform communication in a single app. Sameroom currently integrates with over two dozen messaging and collaboration apps, including commonly used applications like Skype and Slack.

With this acquisition, 8x8 is extending the 8x8 Communications Cloud to allow companies to use the collaboration services that meet their needs without needing to worry about interoperability.
