Pexip and Microsoft Certify Infinity Fusion for Skype for Business Interoperability

3 Aug 2017

Pexip’s Infinity Fusion product has earned a new certification, and is officially a video interoperability solution for Skype for Business Server. With Pexip Infinity Fusion, non-Skype users can join Skype for Business meetings via video teleconferencing, and workers around the world can gain the benefits of cross-technology video interoperability.

Infinity Fusion allows video interoperability while maintaining the native end-user experience, so users can join Skype for Business calls without needing to learn new technology or implement and manage new solutions. The latest version, which has earned the certification from Microsoft, also features a gateway mode, so VTCs can participate directly in Skype conferences.

Pexip collaborated with Microsoft to ensure Infinity Fusion’s certification, and it is now fully certified for on-premises Skype for Business Server 2015 deployments, starting from version 15.1, and is currently the only certified solution for interoperability in an on-premises environment.

Users can dial into Pexip calls through Office 365, and the software can be run inside Microsoft Azure. While in the call, conference endpoints appear in the meeting as Skype participants, and all of the in-meeting and pre-meeting tools that Skype for Business offers are available even to non-Skype users calling in.

While being able to let non-Skype users communicate via video with Skype for Business users is key to the solution, it offers several capabilities beyond the core interoperability that the certification tests for. It has a range of deployment options, including on-premises, in the cloud, or as a hybrid solution, allowing it to scale to a wide range of users and locations. Should any changes be made to the Skype for Business server that might affect Pexip customers, they’ll be notified ahead of time, so they can schedule calls accordingly.

The software is made for organizations of all sizes, and can scale to accommodate any number of users across locations. Although it’s built with large companies in mind, smaller businesses can also make use of the software, while saving on training, implementation, and management costs due to the software’s transparency.

Infinity Fusion is available at a traditional per port model for small and mid-sized businesses, or as a fixed fee per user model. In addition to Skype for Business, it can connect with several other video conferencing systems, such as those from Polycom, Cisco, and Mitel.
