Ted Colton Founder and Managing Director of the 1 3 5 Group. Colton founded the strategy consulting firm to help clients with planning and execution challenges in business development, product management, partner ecosystems, strategic alliances, marketing and go to market execution. 

In the early 2000’s, Colton joined Microsoft’s Enterprise & Partner Group within the Silicon Valley. He and his team provided clients with solutions and services to drive business productivity. Colton joined the Real Time Collaboration business unit as a Senior Director shortly before the acquisition of PlaceWare in 2003. PlaceWare then a wholly-owned subsidiary of Microsoft became the company’s first SaaS offering ultimately leading to Office Communication Server, Lync, Skype for Business and now Microsoft Teams. In 2007 Colton managed the field launch of the “Microsoft Roundtable” as well as creating and leading Microsoft’s global telephony sales organization. 

In 2010 Colton joined Polycom as Group Vice President responsible for global business development, strategic alliances, technology partnerships. During Colton’s tenure Polycom developed significant relationships with Avaya, BroadSoft, HP, IBM, Juniper Networks, Microsoft, Siemens and Shortel. Colton led the integration of HP’s Halo Telepresence business unit commercial field operations into Polycom in 2011.   Colton and his team in conjunction with the above partners successfully brought over 50 UC endpoints to market from SIP phones, conference phones, personal video, group video and telepresence suites as well as software services and hardware for industry standard video interop and end point deployment and management. Colton and his team created and launched the industry’s first Microsoft Video Room System: Polycom CX7000 which subsequently led to the development of what is now known as Microsoft Teams Rooms.

In 2016 Colton joined Crestron Electronics as Vice President responsible for building the company’s UC division. Colton and his team delivered the industry’s first Zoom Room kit built on Crestron Mercury, Earned Microsoft’s Global Partner of the Year for IoT with Crestron XiO, delivered the award-winning Crestron Flex portfolio of UC endpoints for Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Phone, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Crestron Microsoft Teams Panel and Crestron Zoom Scheduling Display.
