iscoord announced the release of is-phone Desktop Lync2010 for BroadWorks. This BroadWorks Edition, dubbed as version 2.0, includes a software plug-in that can be used to seamlessly integrate various BroadWorks capabilities into Microsoft Lync 2010.

An upgrade to version 2.0 of the is-phone Desktop Lync2010 for BroadWorks is said to enhance the Broadworks telephony experience in Lync. This latest version offers call controls, extensive call history, three-way audio conferencing, and telephony existence synchronization with Microsoft Lync. In addition, the desktop sharing and instantaneous messaging capabilities associated with Lync are also included in this iscoord offering.

Rolf Kuster, chief technology officer (CTO) of iscoord, detailed in a statement that the company had made improvements on the latest version of the is-phone Desktop Lync2010 for BroadWorks by embedding the softphone and tweaking the design, allowing for an enhanced performance and phone numbering with Lync's contact resolution.

"In addition to deskphone mode, the plug-in now offers softphone mode to end-users. Softphone mode is particularly appreciated by large organizations as it helps to quickly sort out painful corporate issues - like easily interconnecting the Lync client to a legacy MCU server such as Polycom or Cisco without any complex technical hassles. We are also seeing a significant number of large organizations supporting ad-hoc video conferencing with eight participants maximum in their Lync environment and other organizations looking for a simple UC softphone solution for their mobile workers while preserving the Lync experience - for example, using just one Lync application with all UC features including enterprise telephony - which is just invaluable," Kuster added in the same statement.

"The beauty of is-phone Desktop Lync2010 for BroadWorks is certainly its simplicity and versatility. Service providers, operators and enterprises just need to install the software client plug-in in addition to their Lync 2010 client, whether they run Windows XP/Vista/7, Terminal Services or Citrix," said Christophe Remillet, Head of Business Development at iscoord, as he described the workings of the app's plug-in.

David Bukovsky, BroadSoft's vice president for Product, explained that BroadSoft's main approach is to put forward the interoperability testing of the organization's BroadWorks platform with end-user devices. This is how BroadSoft guarantees an advanced communications experience. Bukovsky went on to say that when the iscoord UC Softphone is used with the BroadWorks platform, service providers can then see the full impact of the new features on the user experience. Furthermore, he said that the offering would also allow service providers to reach more market verticals. (KOM) Link
