snom Releases snom ONE mini

15 Aug 2012

In an announcement from snom technology AG today, the company revealed the expansion of its IP PBX portfolio with the addition of a compact business telephony system for the Small Office Home Office (SOHO) market. This device, the snom ONE mini, supports 20 extensions, and comes with all the features of snom ONE in a compact package.

Built on standards-based SIP technology, the snom ONE mini provides a plug-and-play business telephony solution built for small organizations. It comes with snom ONE IP PBX software installed and configured, providing the same functionality as larger phones, and can be deployed with other snom business IP phones and endpoints.

Features in the snom ONE mini include a standards-based SIP interface, failover and disaster recovery, and a network-ready, fully integrated business phone system in a compact solid state design. At the same time, it consumes very little power; less than 1/10 of that used by the average PC.

"It is impressive to see the depth and breadth of features and functionality in system targeted and price pointed for the SMB / SOHO market," says Stephen Leaden, UC Expert at UCStrategies. "The features listed above, frankly, are typically seen only in larger business environments and will be a welcome add to any small business looking to expand their reach and availability in today's 24x7, always available anytime, anywhere world of business.

"For future releases, I would encourage snom to consider additional features and functionality for a full UC environment, to include a single client interface for IM/chat, presence, softphone, fully integrated Unified Messaging, Web-based audio conferencing, ad-hoc video conferencing, corporate directory integration, Web collaboration and documents sharing."

Leaden concludes, "This system, in my opinion, promises to fulfill a wish list of features any SMB / SOHO business would only hope for and even dream about, including twinning, remote access, and SIP trunking among others. This is definitely one system an SMB / SOHO business should consider when looking to upgrade their Telephony needs."
