McAllen, Texas, may not be your typical locale for an industry analyst event, but Zoho is not your typical vendor, and this was not your typical analyst conference. Hosting Zoho’s Analyst Day 24 conference in McAllen brought to life Zoho’s values as a company. Most companies talk about their values and how they give back to the community, but Zoho is on a whole different level, as you’ll see. The event was light on product deep dives, and heavy on demonstrating what makes Zoho unique, along with customer panels and testimonials.

2023 Recap – A Busy Year in the Business Communications World

Oxford’s Word of the Year for 2023 may be “rizz,” but for those of us in the business communications world, the word of the year was definitely “artificial intelligence” (okay, that’s two words) or “generative AI” (three words?). Looking back on 2023, anything having to do with AI was hot, and anything related to generative AI was even hotter.

Cisco held its WebexOne customer event in Anaheim, CA, and also provided analysts with a day and a half of deep dives to some of the announcements, in addition to Q&A time with the Cisco execs. During WebexOne, the company made a number of announcements that demonstrate its commitment to the overall communications and collaboration space – and of course, AI innovations.

At Zoom’s industry analyst conference, Zoom Perspectives, the company laid out its priorities and roadmap, while demonstrating how to do hybrid events the right way. With a mix of in-person and remote attendees, Zoom showcased how its various technologies can create an engaging hybrid event for all attendees.

There were sessions on Zoom events, collaboration, meetings, the Zoom ecosystem, go to market, and much more. For me, the highlights were the discussions around contact center/CX, AI, and of course, hearing from Zoom Founder and CEO Eric Yuan.

Conferences are back – with a vengeance. During May and June, I attended five conferences/analyst events:

“The Art of Innovation” was the theme at Verint’s Engage customer event held in Las Vegas, with over 1,000 customers, partners, and analysts in attendance. While the theme was innovation, the Verint presentations and sessions were all about using AI to deliver CX automation. The buzzword of the event was “open” – open CCaaS, open data, open platform – you get the idea.

Once again NICE’s marketing department hit it out of the park at its recent Interactions 2023 customer event in New York City. What better theme and tagline for a customer experience (CX) conference in the Big Apple featuring keynote guest speaker Sarah Jessica Parker (of “Sex and the City” fame), than “CX and the City” – very clever and appropriate.

NICE CEO Barak Eilam is known for his keynote presentations with amazing graphics and effects, and this year’s event was no different.
