VoIP provider VocalCloud has been purchased by Digium in a recent move whereby the latter will be able to strengthen its portfolio of cloud-based Unified Communications (UC) products and services.
The deal closed on August 30, but the details have not been disclosed, according to Huntsville, Alabama-based Digium.
Digium, Inc. has acquired Atlanta, GA-based VocalCloud, a provider of cloud-based VoIP solutions, and has created the subsidiary Digium Cloud Services. The combined products and services will be sold through Digium's channel partners.
The acquisition closed on August 30, 2013. Since the two companies are privately held, the financial details of the transaction are not disclosed.
In its recent press release Digium announced the general availability of its first phones designed specifically for Switchvox, its Asterisk open source-based UC business phone system designed for the SMB space. Switchvox systems include: IP-PBX, UM, IM/presence, audio conferencing, fax server, P2P video capability, mobility, call queues, recording and monitoring, as well as reporting and call logging software functions in a single rack mount or desktop appliance.
