Telco Drive with New Synnex-Comcast Agreement

A key distribution agreement has been made between Comcast Business and Synnex in order to bring telecom carrier services to the IT channel.

Synnex is now the first IT distributor to act as a major agent through the Comcast Business Solutions Provider Program, and will now provide its VAR customers with a variety of Ethernet, Internet, voice and cloud services from Comcast via its MobilitySolv practice for mobility, communication and networking services.

Microsoft Announces Surface Reseller Program

Microsoft Corp. announces its two-tiered Microsoft Devices Program that sets up three distributors-Ingram Micro, Inc., SYNNEX Corporation, and Tech Data Corporation-to sell Microsoft Surface devices to a select group of commercial resellers, including CDW, CompuCom Systems, Inc., En Pointe Technologies, Insight Enterprises, Inc., PC Connection, Inc., PCM, Inc., Softchoice, Softmart, SHI International Corp., and Zones, Inc.

Q2 Revenue Gains for SYNNEX But Low Operating Income

The operating income for SYNNEX has fallen in its Q2, but the company's distribution revenue has increased, and there has also been growth in its main technology areas.

Q2 distribution revenues of $2.54 billion have been reported by SYNNEX, and this represents a 4.2 percent growth over the same quarter from last year. The overall revenue of the company had increase by 4.4 percent from the Q2 last year, and stands at a total of $2.59 billion. Diluted earnings per share was 81 cents, which is lower than last year's 90 cents. Income was down by 12.4 percent overall.

Startup Linux Offering to Rival Network Tech Giants

Startup Cumulus Networks released its Linux-based network operating system last week, noting its ability to bring flexibility and low-cost benefits of open standards to data center networks that are dominated by Cisco and other vendors.

The company is based in Sunnyvale, California, and was founded in 2010 by former Cisco and VMware networking engineers, who had raised over $15 million in venture funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Battery Ventures and other investors such as former VMware CEO Diane Greene.

Last week I was at an Avaya analyst event. I know this because I wrote in my calendar, but I did get confused at times based on the content. For example, I kept hearing about "simple" and "net promoter scores." The term "enterprise" came up, but not as much as "Mid Market." I even heard hints about a potential iOS-friendly endpoint.

The StorageCraft Cloud Services platform has now been made available by StorageCraft through its VARs, via Lifeboat and SYNNEX distribution.

The new business unit from Fremont, California-based Synnex helps with the sale and provisioning of scalable and security mobility solutions which reduce costs, simplify management and fully support mission-critical applications.
