ScanSource Transfers Cisco to Catalyst Business Unit

30 May 2013

ScanSource, Inc. announces that it has shifted its Cisco practice from the Security business unit to the Catalyst business unit, which is a distributor of networking solutions and support, as well as video and voice.

ScanSource says that moving the Cisco line to Catalyst enables the technology distributor to provide better Cisco reseller support in the form of people, solutions, and tools. In a press release, ScanSource claims that its Catalyst business unit has UCC-trained and Cisco-certified team members, including enablement specialists, who will assist resellers in incorporating collaboration products, and design engineers, who will help in creating solutions. As a result of the move, reseller partners of ScanSource Catalyst will, in turn, gain access to the collaboration and networking products of Cisco.

ScanSource Catalyst provides resellers its Collaboration FastQuote Tool to speed up the quoting process. Internal tools and support are also available to help the Cisco field sales team.

And to supplement its collaboration offering, ScanSource Catalyst holds out matching solutions from its many other Catalyst manufacturer partners. Access to services - such as network assessments, pre-programming of collaboration solutions, provisioning, and staging - is also provided to resellers.

"We are very excited to add Cisco's Collaboration and Networking solutions to the ScanSource Catalyst line card," said Mike Ferney, vice president of merchandising at ScanSource Catalyst. "Cisco's industry-leading technologies and market presence in the communications space is an ideal match for our established expertise and experience in this space."

"ScanSource is a valued distribution partner within Cisco's channel ecosystem. With ScanSource Catalyst now providing its partners access to Cisco products, partners will be well-positioned to provide industry-leading product offerings and capitalize on enhanced support and expertise from ScanSource," said Richard McLeod, senior director of worldwide channels collaboration sales at Cisco.
