bigtincan Launches New Enterprise Content Solution, Security for BYOD

4 Nov 2012

bigtincan, the enterprise content and productivity hub designed for mobile devices, announced its new enterprise content solution that is claimed by the company to address security issues surrounding BYOD. The bigtincan hub will serve as a social platform for mobile workers, enabling them to bring business at their fingertips.

David Keane, CEO/managing director of bigtincan, said that security is considered as one of the main barriers to the widespread adoption of Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) by many companies. "bigtincan hub embeds all of the necessary security and content controls that can empower businesses to take advantage of the huge productivity opportunities that tablets and smartphones can offer mobile workers," Keane said.

bigtincan also announced that Barry Bycoff joined the company to serve as chairman of the board. Bycoff would provide strategic direction on the operational execution of bigtincan's management team.

The bigtincan hub is integrated on top of the BTC Dashboard platform. The hub, which accommodates existing and emerging mobile platforms, allows for the secure delivery of business-related content with a consumer-like experience. Because the bigtincan hub is designed as a completely integrated communications system, it offers on-the-go travelling employees and mobile workers with updated and accurate business content, thus helping enterprises to maximize the productivity and the profitability of their mobile workforce base.

IT and business professionals are expected to benefit from bigtincan hub's content policy management, which includes role-based permissions that safeguard sensitive company data. The content policy management ensures that only the intended recipient can view or edit the information. It also provides data leakage protection that enables content encryption on the mobile device over the air and on the server.

In addition, bigtincan hub's service offers a document management capability that lets users edit, mark up, and organize almost any file type, including MS Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, HTML5 content, PDFs, video files, ebooks, and podcasts. The bigtincanhub works on any Android and iOS device. There is also an HTML5 version for use on both Macs and PCs.

The two important functionalities in bigtincan's new enterprise solution for BYOD are ContentIQ and SocialIQ. ContentIQ is a content-scoring system that draws attention to prioritized content. SocialIQ, on the other hand, is a real-time content metrics system that tracks user activity, meaning businesses can track in real time the employees who are doing what with specific materials.

bigtincan hub integrates with many third-party solutions, including Citrix, Sharepoint, MS Outlook, SAP, and Salesforce. The live video collaboration app also lets users see and hear their colleagues during editing and feedback sessions. (KOM) Link
