Office Mobile for Apple's iOS platform available on iPhones and iPad tablets

17 Jun 2013

Subscribers of Office 365 who also use iPhones and iPads will now be able to utilize a free Apple Store App known as "Office Mobile," according to Microsoft.

The General Manager at Microsoft Office Division, Julia White, said that Office Mobile for iPhone can be accessed free-of-charge by subscribers of Office 365 Home Premium and Office 365 ProPlus. White said: "Similar to our free Office Mobile for Windows Phone that ships with every handset, the Apple app enables great Office content viewing and on-the-go content editing capabilities."

Users will be able to view, access and edit Microsoft Office documents from anywhere, once they have signed in to their Office 365 accounts on their iPhones or iPads, similar to how they would from a PC or Mac. Formatting will remain unchanged as users revert to their PCs or Macs to access those same documents.

A number of documents can be accessed on the go, and this includes Cloud, Recent Documents and Email Attachments. Cloud can be accessed with a phone, and makes Office documents that are stored on SkyDrive, SkyDrive Pro, or SharePoint available.

As Office Mobile is cloud-connected, Recent Documents that have been viewed last on a computer will also be made available on the user's phone. Email Attachments and Office document attachments can also be viewed and edited. Once edited, documents can then be shared again or saved via SkyDrive or SharePoint.

White added: "When we launched Office 365 earlier this year, we committed to delivering regular updates and new capabilities to Office 365 subscribers. Since then, we've expanded Skype calling and added new OneNote features. Office Mobile is another great example of the value of subscribing to Office 365, and I can guarantee you, there will be lots more to come." (CY) Link. Link.
